Adobe Dreamweaver: Setting up a website connection

Overview

You will need to setup two things in Dreamweaver

  1. Where to store your local copy of the website while you are making amends. This will be somewhere on your harddrive or on your network.
  2. How to connect to the live webserver so that you can put your changes up on the live website.

Manage Sites

Choose Site > Manage Sites...

Manage your website

 

New Website

Choose New > Site

New website

 

Enter Local Information

Setup up the local information as below:

Local Website Info

  1. Enter Site Name
  2. Choose a folder on your computer to store your local copy of the website
  3. Select links relative to the Site Root
  4. Enter the website URL (HTTP address)

 

Website Remote Information

Website Remote Information

  1. Select FTP Access
  2. Enter FTP host
  3. Enter Host directory
  4. Enter Login and Password
  5. Select passive FTP
  6. Select Maintain synchronization information
  7. Select Enable file check in and check out
  8. Enter your name
  9. Enter your email address
