Companies Act Changes
Posted in Legal Issues by Dr Christian Bridge-Harrington
A number of changes have been made to the Companies Act, and on the 1st January 2007 these became law. One of the less-publicised changes affects all e-mail and websites and hence impacts on what you are legally required to include in your website and business e-mails.
Every company must now publish their company registration number, place of registration and registered office address on its website and on any business e-mails. This information must be in legible characters.
The information does not have to be on every webpage, so I would recommend that you place the information on your "About Us" or "Contact Us" page. In terms of e-mails, while it only needs to be on "business e-mails" the reality is that it is probably easier to simply include the details in your e-mail signature.
