HTML & XHTML

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and XHTML (Extensible HTML) are the foundations of web pages. HTML is, ultimately, what a browser will interpret and display, whether the site is developed in PHP, ASP.NET, ASP, Ruby etc. XHTML extends (as the name suggests) the HTML standard with XML and defines a further semantic to follow. Both HTML and XHTML are W3C standards.
